BMED, the Biomedical Engineering Design Team, is a special interest group that designs assistive technology (piece of equipment, software program, or product system) that aims to increase, maintain or improve the functional capabilities of persons with disabilities.

Who can join

The short answer is, anyone! As long as you’re interested in biomedical engineering, BMED is open to students from many disciplines. Currently, BMED contains students of all years from Biosystems, Electrical, Computer, Civil, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as Science.

The Price Faculty of Engineering offers a biomedical specialization to provide engineers with knowledge of human anatomy and physiology to enhance the understanding of the role to be played by engineers in specific areas within biomedical engineering such as rehabilitation engineering, clinical engineering, medical imaging, and orthopaedics.  A biomedical specialty can be undertaken from the departments of Biosystems, Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical by undergraduate students in any year.
